Breyaunna Hattab, LMSW - Counselor
I believe that every person who walks through the door carries a story worth understanding, and that healing happens when you feel truly seen, heard, and respected for exactly who you are.
As a Black and Jamaican American woman, my commitment to justice, equity, and human dignity has guided me since I was young and led me directly into Social Work. My work began with inner city at-risk youth and has expanded across clinical, community, and systems settings, always anchored in the profession’s core values: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, integrity, and the importance of human relationships.
I bring over a decade of experience working with individuals of varying ages, ethnicities, abilities, genders, sexualities, economic statuses, and religions, across juvenile justice, disability services, senior programming, public health, crisis and inpatient care, and college and school-based counseling, with a consistent focus on Black, Indigenous, and communities of color, and LGBTQIA+ individuals and families.
I have a particular investment in OCD, perinatal and postnatal mental health, and youth and families, and I welcome all clients who are ready to do this work together. My own lived experience with OCD deepens my ability to meet clients where they are, without judgment, without assumption, and with a deep respect for the courage it takes to show up.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Social Work in Social Change and Innovation from the University of Southern California. My advocacy spans county government, public education, and national OCD organizations, with a consistent focus on culturally competent, racially inclusive mental health care. I spent over 12 years living and advocating in Flagstaff, Arizona, where much of that community work took root.
Outside of work, I enjoy camping, traveling, and going to rodeos with my husband and children.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) practicing under the clinical supervision of Elsa Peña, LCSW.
Clinically, I specialize in evidence-based anxiety treatment through an integrated blend of CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Inhibitory Learning models, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. My approach is trauma informed and personcentered throughout. Rather than simply managing symptoms, we work together to shift howyour mind and body respond to fear, building lasting psychological flexibility and a life guidedby your values, not your anxiety.
I see teens, adults, and couples.
